Valentine Police Department Week in Review:
December 1-7, 2019
On 12/1/19 at 1:26 pm, Officers received a report of a shoplifter at Henderson’s IGA. The suspect had fled prior to Officer arrival. Suspect identification is being worked on by Officers.
On 12/1/19 at 2:08 pm, Officers responded to the 100 block of east highway 20 for a non-injury accident. Information was exchanged between those involved and minimal officer involvement was needed.
On 12/01/19 at 8:25 pm, an Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersections of Highway 20 and Main Streets. Following an investigation, a 39 year old Valentine woman was arrested on suspicion of operating her motor vehicle while under the influence.
On 12/02/19 at 2:42 am, Officers responded to the 100 block of Lodi Street in regards to an assault. Those involved were uncooperative and no police action was taken. At 6:42 pm, Officers again were requested to respond to this location. EMS was summoned to assist with injured victims. Suspects fled prior to Officer arrival. Warrants are being sought for the suspects.
On 12/02/19 in the early evening hours, Officers were called to 3rd and Main Streets for a 2 car non-injury accident. Ice was considered a contributing factor in the crash. A 26 year old South Dakota woman was cited for a driver’s license violation.
On 12/03/19 at 9:51 am, a report of a one vehicle non-injury accident was called in. An officer responded to Park Lane and found a vehicle had left the roadway and was a total loss.
On 12/03/19 at 6:07 pm, a 2 vehicle non-injury accident was called in for the 200 block of North Main Street. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to damages sustained. A 25 year old South Dakota man was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence following the investigation.
On 12/04/19 at 12:38 pm, a delayed hit and run accident report was filed with the department. No suspects have been identified.
On 12/05/19 at 9:29 pm, a traffic stop was made in the 900 block of west highway 20. A 29 year old South Dakota woman was cited for a driver’s license violation.
On 12/06/19 at 11:16 pm, Officers were asked to respond to the 100 block of Lodi Street for an assault. A 33 year old Valentine woman was arrested at this location as a result.
Officers responded to 123 calls for service this week and conducted 2 programs at the Valentine Head Start.
In addition, on 12/09/19 as a result of information shared by the Rosebud Tribal Police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was served in the 200 block of south Main Street. Items seized were related to the possession and sale of methamphetamine. Officers were assisted by the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office during this search. The case will be forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney.
