Valentine Police Department Week in Review:
November 10-16, 2019
On 11/12/19 at 11:15 am, Sandhills Oil staff reported a failure to pay theft. A male suspect from Colorado has been identified and is being sought by police.
On 11/13/19 at 10:06 pm, a complaint of a subject soliciting prostitution via social media was called in. The case is currently under investigation. The FBI has been contacted for assistance.
On 11/14/19 at 9:17 am, a complaint of criminal mischief was called in. In the 200 block of south Cherry Street, an unknown person drove across a lawn causing significant damage to the yard and landscaping. Information is needed from the public.
On 11/14/19 at 2:41 pm, a request for a welfare check at the intersection of 5th and Hall Streets resulted in an investigation and the subsequent arrest of a 64 year old Virginia man for domestic assault and strangulation.
On 11/14/19 at 3:31 pm, Officers from both the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office and Valentine Police Department were requested to the 300 block of east B street for an active domestic assault in progress. Both subjects fled the area prior to officer arrival. Officers later located the vehicle that was used to flee the area but were unable to locate either party involved.
On 11/14/19 at 3:47 pm, Officers were called to the 200 block of south Cherry Street for a domestic disturbance. Officers found that no crime had been committed. No action was taken.
On 11/15/19 at 2:41 pm, a report was filed by a subject who had fallen victim to a Social Security Scam. Officers directed the victim to immediately contact their financial institutions and the social security office. Attempts to identify the thief have been unsuccessful as of this report.
On 11/16/19, the Valentine Police Department joined Viaero employees in conducting a short awareness training in regards to cellular phone scams.
Officers responded to 156 calls for service this week.
