According to authorities, a young man fell less than 20 feet at Smith Falls State Park on Saturday while he was climbing the waterfalls. The young man suffered bruises and some lacerations from the fall. Signs are posted to not climb the falls while going under the cold water is permitted. The young man refused transportation by Ambulance after receiving some preliminary medical assessment from National Park Service personnel. The falls area was closed to the public for a period of time. Again a reminder that climbing the falls is not permitted and visitors should obey warning signs posted at Smith Falls State Park.
