Valentine Middle School Physical Education teacher and High School Varsity assistant coach Cody Roes inducted into the Chadron State All Century Football Team.

At least 38 of the 58 players who were voted onto the Chadron State College All-Century Football Team this summer have indicated they will return for the Eagles' season-opener Saturday.

The players will be recognized at halftime of the game, which is with Missouri Science and Technology.  Kickoff will be at noon.

The honorees will be the guests at pregame lunch and are invited to attend the post-game gathering at the Country Kitchen. They also will receive a memento to recognize their selection to the team.

The 2013 season was the 100th  that the Eagles have played football.  The new school even had a football team in 1911, the year that it opened.  However, no games were played for two years during each of the World Wars.

Besides the players who have made reservations for Saturday's game, other special guests will include Carlyle Colerick of Farmington, N.M., widow of Lyle Colerick, and Diane Longacre of Hot Springs, daughter of Dub Miller, who also is deceased.

Criteria for the voting included being named to the All-Nebraska or Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Conference teams two or more times, selection to All-American teams or the Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame and statistical dominance.

About 200 players were on the original ballot.  The selection committee had nine members.

Those who has made reservations for the game as of Tuesday morning are: Corey Anderson, Travis Atter, Austin Bailey, Mitch Barry, Jason Barthel, Randy Bauer, Casey Beran, Kevin Berg, Cory Brooks, Jess Clarke, Glen Clinton, Jeremy Eardley, Chad Emanuel, Cody Gamble, Brandon Harrington, Tim Hiett, Chad Johnson, Joe Juelfs, Kevin Lindholm, Dan Maciejczak, Joe McLain, Trevor Moon, Rick Nave, Mike Parks, Joe Plananasky, Ben Puffer, Jay Rhoades, Cody Roes, Paul Schweger, Layne Sievers, Duane Smith, J.C. Sollars, Trelan Taylor, Ken Thompson, Ryan Turman and Lonnie Wickard.
