Things are progressing rapidly with the new Frederick Peak Golf Club in Valentine. As the grass greens up, construction on the clubhouse continues at a good pace. At this time the golf course development committee has set a soft opening date for the 10 hole course for members on April 29th and 30th. The course will open to the general public on May 1st if everything goes according to plan. Memberships can be purchased at Valentine City Hall along with cart rentals.
The high school boy’s golf team will use the course for three events this spring and the hospital foundation, chamber of commerce and the senior circuit have already lined up tournament dates.
The community support for the golf course continues to grow. There have been thousands of hours of labor and tens of thousands of dollars of materials donated to this project. There will still be plenty of things to work on as the course matures and any individual or group that would like to volunteer some labor can contact course superintendent Tad Buechle. Volunteers should fill out a waiver form available at city hall.
