Winter Storm Leo dumped heavy snow on the KVSH listening area. Laura Vroman captured this picture of KVSH Studios before the plows finished clearing the roads, where 9.4 inches of snow officially fell, a record amount for this time of year. There were many higher reports around the area, and outside the village of Merriman in western Cherry County, a resident reported 22 inches of snow by Tuesday evening to the National Weather Service. That report remained unconfirmed to KVSH, but reports of upwards of 15 inches from around the area came in on Wednesday morning, January 25th. In addition to the snow, strong northwest winds gusting to 35 to nearly 45 mph caused blowing and drifting, making travel hazardous. Residents are still advised to use extreme caution on the slick and snow packed roads.
