Valentine Police Chief Dana Miller appeared on the KVSH Comment program Thursday morning to talk about new happenings within the Valentine PD. Officer Tim McBride recently joined the force to add a sixth person to the roster. This enables the city to provided 24 hour coverage to the city. Officer McBride formerly worked with the Cherry County Sheriff’s department and was already certified to work in Nebraska.
The new narcotics dog Boss Man has been on the job for several months and Chief Miller reports that he is doing extremely well for the department. Officer Jim McCormick is the handler for the German Sheppard.
The police department is working with the High school for a CSI Valentine class that teaches investigation techniques and includes the advanced biology class for forensic investigation. This will be held in March.
There will also be a “Coffee with a Cop” on March 23rd at the new Tranquility Spa on Main Street in Valentine. Chief Miller invites the public from 9 to 11 am to visit with member of the department and offer constructive suggestions. There will be donuts.
