Nebraska’s own Susan Cook has been selected as Niobrara’s new Chief of Interpretation. She brings over 28 years of experience to Niobrara, starting her career at Homestead National Monument of America in Beatrice, NE, where she worked her way up from an administrative assistant to her most recent assignment as the Chief of Interpretation and Resource Management.
She will take over for Bobbie Roshone who has been serving as the park’s acting Chief of Interpretation.
Susan describes herself as a “sandhills girl”, growing up in Tryon, NE just south of Thedford, prior to moving to Beatrice. Susan graduated from Peru State College in Peru, NE in 2000 with a BS in
Business Administration, followed by a MA in Management and Leadership from Doane University in Lincoln.
Susan is married to Phil who is a licensed electrical contractor and serves as the Service Manager for IES Commercial, Inc. They have three sons, Christian who will be a senior at Lincoln Public School’s Science and Math Focus High School, Hunter who just graduated from UNL as a Biological Systems Engineer, and Philip who is an electrician in Lincoln.
