On Thursday, March 18, 2019, Rodney Bordeaux, Rosebud Sioux Tribe President, proclaimed a State of Emergency on the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Indian Reservation, due to the extreme weather conditions and heavy snow fall resulting in flooding dangers in the communities surrounding the Rosebud Dam, Antelope Dam, Ring Thunder Dam, Parmalee Dam, Ponca Dam, Okreek Dam and Indian Scout Dam. The emergency declaration exists for the entire reservation, and requests assistance from federal officials from the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Federal Emergency Management Agency, other federal departments and the State of South Dakota, for any and all assistance available to the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
