The Cherry County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on December 27, 2018.

Regular meeting minutes from the December 11th, meeting were read and approved.

County Surveyor Lloyd Smith updated the Board on the status of the Sparks South road project. Cherry County will coordinate tree removal with the construction engineer for the Project . JEO Consulting Group, Inc. will be the construction engineer for the project.

The Board thanked Mr. Smith for his 32 years of service to Cherry County.

The board reappointed Connie McNare to represent Cherry County on the Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board for a three-year term.

John Ravenscroft informed the Board of tentative plans to place memorial monuments for Korean War veterans and Vietnam War veterans in the Cherry County Courthouse yard.

Commissioner Storer moved to appoint Duane Kime to the Planning Commission to complete the remainder of Todd Mathis’s term to expire on January 11, 2020.The motion carried.

Commissioner DeNaeyer moved to approve claims as presented.

Dave Lien and Dick Clark, Cherry County Ag Society Board of Directors, presented the Board with a real estate purchase agreement for the Cherry County Fairgrounds.

Commissioners approved the real estate agreement between the Cherry County Ag Society and the City of Valentine.

Kim Burge informed the Board of North Central RC&D’s potential composting project and about upcoming informational meetings on the project to be held at Mid Plains Community College Campus in Valentine on February 4, 2019.
