Winds in excess of 70 mph pounded Valentine Monday evening. The Valentine airport measured a wind gust of 74 mph, but several reports estimated higher gusts. There were many trees uprooted, street flooding and power outages. About 2 inches of rain also fell.
The City of Valentine has reported that residents may take their branches to the field across from the high school to the east to aid in cleanup.
