The regular meeting of the Valentine City Council was held Thursday, February 13th. The annual reports were given on the Valentine Library by Anne Quigley and on the Valentine Police Department by Chief Dana Miller. The council then approved the rezoning of lots west of the former Ohlmann Building Center from residential to limited industrial. The council approved the reappointment of Nadeane Allard, Luke Moser and Deanne Holmes Monroe to the Economic Development Board. Three economic development recommendations were approved: $5000 annually for three years to the Valentine Chamber of Commerce, $500 to assist with the Quickbooks class, and funds to update the Valentine housing study to pursue additional workforce housing projects.

Some discussion was held about reducing electrical rates as a result of savings being made after adding Heartland Consumer Power as the city’s wholesale supplier; that will again be discussed at next month’s meeting. The council concluded the meeting by voting to approve the repairs needed at the walking bridge in the Valentine City Park.
